this could be made up,butabout 10 houses down from me on Laurel Canyon Blvd in l.a, Tom Mix had a place across the street from the big Houdini mansion and supposedly there are tunnels connecting the 2 places. Frak Zappa lived in the Tom Mix place for years....i didnt google so could be way off on that story

I don't know where Mix lived, but his 1935 classic, The Miracle Rider was his best film.............He only made a few others before dying in a car accident after driving his Cord Phaeton into a ditch between Tuscon and Phoenix in 1940... I have visited the site where he died. He opened the door of the car and a suitcase full of silver dollars hit him in the head, killing him instantly. His Suitcase of Death is the featured attraction at the Tom Mix Museum in Dewey, Oklahoma.

Jad, your link references Boyd Majors, a Western film historian. I'm a huge fan of his! I personally know a couple of other Tom Mix historians, including Dick Arnold. Mix even was a guest at the legendary Bell Ranch in New Mexico, as were many other great Western actors!
