Phone precog

Well, my DOG does. He always knows when I call home- before it rings in the house! He starts barking at my wife a few seconds before the phone rings. Every time, but only when I call. He does not do it with other calls. We have often wondered how he can be so sensitive to pick up that I am calling??? Thoughts anyone?

I will elect not to be - in fact, not skilled enough to do so if I wanted - too technical here. But I'd tend to guess that the electronic signals our phones send out are "coded" and mostly unique hence the "Caller ID" feature was successfully created.

Assuming that is correct, I wonder if your dog is able to detect/hear the difference in your incoming phone signal as compared to others' signals when they call into that same phone number. Over time, the dog may have learned to relate your wife's past responses - and probably the sound of your voice on the open line after she picked up - with your unique incoming electrical signature that occurred immediately before she answered the phone.

I have another theory. Perhaps the dog is picking up the Wife's precognition, even before the wife realizes it.
